Today we need you to know about Darius Tarver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He had just suffered a serious head injury from a near-fatal car accident. He needed medical attention. Instead, Denton, TX police shot and killed him. It\u2019s heartbreaking and infuriating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/act.grassrootslaw.org\/go\/1130?source=ema20200713-440&amp;t=1&amp;akid=440%2E3821512%2Ev147xt\"><strong>Add your name to demand justice for Darius Tarver. He was trying to unscrew the lights in his apartment, but he broke them. His neighbors called the police \u2013 who then killed him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Darius had a bright future ahead of him. He was on the dean\u2019s list at UNT and set to graduate in the spring with a criminal justice major.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He should\u2019ve received help from a mental health care professional. Instead, he was met with violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It took weeks of demands from Darius\u2019s father, Kevin Tarver, and community leaders for the Denton Police Department to release footage of the incident.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s now clear that the Denton PD tased and shot him while he was standing completely still. They missed multiple opportunities to safely arrest him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The four officers must get fired and charged for Darius\u2019s murder. An independent special prosecutor must investigate the case. And the Department of Justice must fulfill the promise to launch a federal investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/act.grassrootslaw.org\/go\/1130?source=ema20200713-440&amp;t=3&amp;akid=440%2E3821512%2Ev147xt\"><strong>Demand justice for Darious Tarver right now.
