The voters have spoken. And Donald Trump’s political feathers are flying.
A blue wave swept across America’s political landscape Tuesday night as Democrats captured the U.S. House of Representatives and, according to CNN’s election-night projections, secured control of the Senate.
The result represents a dramatic shift in Washington’s balance of power and a major political setback for President Donald Trump.
For an administration accustomed to dominating the political conversation, the message from voters was unmistakable: the American electorate still has the power to change the direction of its government.
But the significance of this election extends far beyond one president or one political party.
For Black communities, working families, and Americans concerned about civil rights, voting rights, economic opportunity, and government accountability, the new congressional landscape raises an important question: What will Democrats do with the power voters have entrusted to them?
Winning an election is one thing. Delivering meaningful change is another.
And as the confetti settles, that is where the real work begins.
